Ok, I’ve actually been debating on even doing a review of this product, only because once I started using it, I really did want to keep it a secret.

When I first bought hummingbird software, I had around 3000 followers and had been using twitter for 2 years. I was manually adding followers and following back new people following me every day to the tune of about 50 people. I would click on each profile and see what they were tweeting about and then perhaps follow them. I was literally spending a couple of hours a day just following new people and I started getting addicted to getting more followers. I kind of equate it to World of Warcraft, where you would walk around collecting gold coins all day; I did the same with twitter. Anytime I would see someone with a twitter button or badge on their site, I would click to follow them. (And just like WOW, it is a huge time suck!)

Then I took a look at the hummingbird web site, read the pitch and was skeptical mainly because of the steep price. But then did some research on the guys who made the software, over at Mesiablabs and when I found out that they all had around 40,000 followers each I instantly shelled out the 200 bucks. (It’s 50% off now)

After using the software for a few days, I was pleasantly surprised. I was like a kid in a candy store and couldn’t believe how quickly my followers were growing and how I didn’t have to click on that follow button all day long anymore. I’d actually wake up in the morning excited just to see how many new followers I had got overnight. After a week or so and when I linked on some of my blog posts and got instant traffic, I really started to realize the true power of having a lot of twitter followers.

I wanted to keep my main twitter account for general marketing and personal stuff, and Protwit just for my blog and making money on twitter stuff.

Well the results speak for themselves after owning the software for 3 months: ninjachad has over 25,000 followers and Protwit is over 13,000. I actually broke the top 1000 twitter users a few times! (38,000 followers is not too bad for someone who is not famous or an Internet celebrity? And it saved me hundreds of hours of work.)

Hummingbird is super simple to use. Set it and forget it. If you are serious about using twitter as a powerful marketing tool and want more followers, you can’t afford not to buy it.

Buy it now, thank me later. Version 2 is being released soon, and so the price has been reduced by 50%.

Get in now at the cheap price…

I was excited about Hummingbird too when I first got it. I added a huge amount of followers to my site, targeted followers too. Then Twitter started making changes and Hummingbird has had some problems. They seem to be down about as much as they are up lately, and since they do have one of the most expensive automated tools, you’d think they’d try a bit harder. I truthfully wouldn’t have complained, just waited for them to fix, but their support stinks. They hardly ever go in their forum and tell their customers what to expect or what is wrong. That’s why I can’t recommend Hummingbird. You at least have to take care of your customers. Sorry.

I looked at Hummingbird in May and decided it was too expensive so, like chad I wasted the hours manually following and unfollowing to build. Then Twitter changed it’s numbering system and you couldn’t tell who was who without a further click on each person, not only that you have to remember who you followed to make sure not to follow them again. Uhg! So when I heard about the 50% discount I jumped on it. Whoa, what a difference. At a glance you know who you follow and who you may have followed in the past. Used responsibly this is great software and as Chad says it saves hours weekly. The new version seeks followers on a keyword select basis and methodically adds 4-6 folowers an hour(targeted). My support issues have been handled in mere hours. Two thumbs up in my book.

I considered buying Hummingbird a while ago but decided I’d do better to make my own solution that actually has everything I’d want in a tool like this:

Well, it took a long time to create being just one person but there are many advantages to being able to add new features fairly easily now as I’ve learnt a lot in the process.
